Considering Hiring a Digital Marketing Agency vs In-House Team

As a key decision maker in your organization, it's often your job to consider additional personnel decisions.

So when your small marketing team is stretched too thin you'll be faced with a major decision, should you hire additional employees to join your workforce, or would it make more sense to outsource your needs to digital marketing agency?

Both options will require a significant investment of time and money.

Below we've provided some considerations for each to help make your decision.

Considerations for Hiring an Agency

  • Relationships with a Digital Marketing Agency Partners: managing relationships with outside vendors can be time-consuming and having an agency can help create some distance. Having an agency will give you the power to steer all media questions to the agency team allowing you to focus on higher level internal needs. Additionally, your agency team will be more familiar with current programs and trends media vendors are offering.
  • Skills, Expertise, and Tools: With an agency at your disposal you'll also have access to specific tools like audience insights and media delivery reports. Agencies are designed to be an expert within the media landscape and with this experience, you can feel confident your media dollars are working as hard as you are.

Considerations for Expanding Your In-House Team

  • Brand Expertise: Although you can educate an agency on your company's mission, goals, and objectives, an internal marketing/media team will have a deeper understanding and connection to your business including competitors, vision and target audience.
  • Quicker Approvals: With direct access to key decision makers your internal team may be able to secure faster approvals on media executions.

While both have their advantages and disadvantages, it's important to consider your specific goals and objectives for your particular business.

Perhaps your company could benefit from a hybrid approach?

Consider expanding your internal team and hiring an agency for areas where your internal team may need extra support such as content creation or video production.
